Anyone know anything about Brewtal Cogs?

I stopped into my LBS today asking for 17t cogs and they offered to sell me a "Brewtal" cog for $40. It seemed to be a solid alloy cog and it was the mid quality in their selection. They had some Origin8 and even an EAI Gold. I didn't end up buying it, then I was curious so I looked up Brewtal but couldn't find anything. So can anyone tell me if they've had any experience with the brand?

Thanks

Generally if you can't find anything about it, stay away. Surely a bunch of people will have talked about it if it is good stuff or people would at least be ragging on it because it is bad stuff. I saw it for sale on one website from Australia maybe and some minor mention of it in a forum post somewhere and looking at the picture given it doesn't look all that exciting. Dura-Ace is good stuff and can be had for around $35 or the EAI Superstar is nicer at around $60. I would rather have one of those that I know is good than some unknown quantity.

If you are looking to really get a nice cog and are a little less concerned with budget Sugino's Gigas cog is solid or EAI Gold Medal looks a little more balleur (probably performs the same though) and is similarly priced.

IIRC Brewtal was a "house brand" of the (now defunct) parts importer/distributor Tom Hall Ent. The cogs aren't bad but definitely not worth 40 bucks.

Don't buy an (aluminum) alloy cog, because it will wear out much quicker than a steel cog. If you want a top quality cog at a moderate price get this https://www.retro-gression.com/colle...uxe-track-cogs

Truth. Learned this the hard way when buying stuff on eBay. Holds true on about anything.

Regular EAI cogs are great quality and pretty inexpensive. No real need to go further than this unless you want to drop some cash on bling.

The All-city standard track cogs will get the job done and they're affordable. Retrogression stocks 'em.
