New to single speeds.
Hello. So I'm new to the forum. Looking at buying a single speed for some city riding. What is your opinion on the Fyxation single speed bikes? Any recommendations at the $500 price range?

Wabi

That Wabi line sure is nice. Looks to be a bit out of my price range. I'll need to check online to see if I can find one on the cheap. Thanks for the recommendation.

From what I have read, anything with the name Aero or Fix is pretty much garbage.
Are you wanting solely fixed or fixed/free? https://www.retro-gression.com/colle...-complete-bike |
I don't care for a fixed wheel. Just looking for an alternative to my road bike.

Any recommendations at the $500 price range?
::T R A I T O R C Y C L E S:: I have an older ~2008 Cutlass that has served me well. |
Traitor cycles.... very nice. Thanks for the suggestion. Will check them out.

Kilo TT

I recommend Wabi also but for the money and considering how highly it is rated, even at its retail price, Performance is selling out their Fuji Feathers. Great bike for under $400 bucks and exchange the fixed rear cog for a freewheel sprocket.
For $379 bucks I'm seriously considering getting one of these for my "errands" bike: Fuji Feather Singlespeed Road Bike - 2016 or...for under $500 bucks: Fuji Feather City Bike - 2016 - |

Are you open to buying brand new or are you open to buying uses? I have bought at least 10 bikes pre-owned on craigslist. I get great value and if there is something that is not perfect I can change it (I have a local mechanic that has served me well). I estimate I have saved $4,000 to $5,000 by buying pre-owned. My most recent purchase was a Fuji Feather single speed. It was a 2013 model and I got it for $200. I love this bike. Did I mention: I love this bike. You can get a lot of bike value in a single speed for under $500. And yes you can always change a seat or change a gear or change the handlebars on a bike you buy for a few hundred dollars and still come in way under your price point. (Many times people buy new and then ONLY AFTER they ride it do they realize they need something changed so the argument that you get what you want when you buy new is simply not accurate in my experience and observation of others). |

Buying pre-owned allows you to get much more value, in my experience: https://www.bicyclebluebook.com/sear....aspx?id=18184 Here is a $900 single speed bike new that you can usually get at a much lower price. |
Zoroman, thanks for the helpful tips.
