Three Years On The Road With Mercier WT

Well it's been three year since I've bought the Mercier WT from Bike Direct. Save up to 60% off new Mercier Singlespeed Track Bikes - Kilo WT - Save Up To 60% Off Brand new Bicycles I love it!! Great bike but some things should be change when the bike is new. Seat and tires are cheap and heavy. This maybe be true in most bikes in this price range. Other than:thumb: that nothing else I replaced. The bike now has over 7K+on it and runs great.

Mine is nearly 7 years old and looks and rides like new. Definitely one of the best bikesdirect offerings. Could you post some pics ?

Both of you post pics! I found a new wt5 in my size and I am super tempted.

I purchased one last year as a dedicated winter bike. Currently running it with a set of studded marathon tires.

I bought one last July and have ridden it to work most of the time since. Only complaint is toe overlap so haven't used clipless pedals, which I miss! I am much stronger on the geared road bike!

Looks like a great useable setup. I have a charge saddle on tow of my bikes and love them!

How do you like it? Mini review would be appreciated or do you have a thread/post for that already?

Like it a lot. It has the exact same geometry of a Surly Steamroller, which has a great steel ride to it, but unlike the Steamroller the WT has tons of mounts for water bottles, fenders, racks etc. It is the ultimate versatility SSFG bike, and the quality of the frameset, wheelset and crankset is very good, so you won't need to change any of them.

I love it as a city "beater"

The geometry is exactly the same as the Surly Steamroller. BikesDirect stole it !

Good thing you can't patent geometry! ;) Frames would be very limited if that was the case.

BD should do a Cinelli work frame tribute. (knock off)

Go big or go home! I want a bikesdirect cinelli laser tt.

But really, it's copies like this that bother me:

Pelizzoli, the man, has been building frames for most of the last 50-ish years. He created the Ciöcc brand, and has built frames for CONTI, Concorde, Coppi, and possibly others before building under his own name. I don't think it's fair to call the Leggenda a mere Cannondale copy. It's a custom frame, made to order, with fully customizable geometry for a small upcharge. It's not in the same league as the original, nevermind the actual shameless copies thereof. (Superb / Colossi, I'm looking at you)
