Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Help ID this bike and value

Long-time lurker just created an account to seek everyone's wisdom on what brandmodel of bike this is.

LINK: sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/bik/6073225005.html

It is obviously not the langster street as it does not have a sloped top tube. Poster said that it is straight across so I think that it is the langster steel.

Can anyone confirm that this is the Langster Steel?

Also are the parts that have been added good quality parts?

- Ritchey Carbon Fork
- Thompson Elite X4 stem
- Sugino 46t chain ring

It looks like a 2006 Specialized Langster. Those parts are good. The ad doesn't mention whether it includes the Thomson seatpost. I don't know about the price, though.

Yeah, it's alu. Looks pretty decent, I guessed 300 before looking at the ad. Carbon fork is a good addition and everyone loves Thomson stuff. It definitely looks well-used, so I'd want to give it a thorough inspection before buying. And if only there was some way to take some spokes off the back wheel and move them up to the front...

The track drops/oury grips make the bike worth $1,000. Kidding aside the stem and seatpost are really nice along with the carbon road fork, saddle is thrashed but it doesn't seem like a bad deal. You'll probably have to spend a few dollars after buying it for a new saddle and something to remedy the bars. But it's your decision and your bike not mine.

That bar set up makes me want to fight children.

If you really want it, talk them down to 300 so you can get a new saddle and some bar tape.

You're just about right, according to google images it matches the 2005. If the colorway coordinates with that year and it wasn't the same colorway and font for both 2005/2006.

Look at the pic the back wheel is sitting on blocks giving the illusion of a horizontal top tube

Thanks everyone for their input. I will go for a test ride but think I will pass as I was looking for steel frame and prefer the horizontal tube top look.
