Upgrade current bike, or buy new? and looking for opinions on Fuji Track vs. Kilo
 

Long story short, I'm wondering if I should upgrade my current bike, or buy a new. New seems to be the way to go, but I'm curious to what other more experience people think. I narrowed it down to a Fuji Track or a Kilo, and was also curious as to how those two compare.

Current bike is a Winsdor Clockwork plus that I've been riding for about 4 years. I really need some new wheels and crankset/bb, but it looks like anything decent is gonna put me around the full cost of the bike new. I've also notice on closer inspection there is some rust on my brakes, cage mount screws, and seat clamp. Basically the frame, and handlebars are the only things in good shape lol.

Got to thinking I could just get a new complete bike, and make a better attempt at caring for it (only really maintained tires/tubes/chains on the current bike, left in the rain a couple times, never really cleaned anything but the chain) then slowly upgrading from there. Then use the current one as just a junker/beater, and to let my friends ride etc.

I pretty much narrowed it down to a Fuji Track or a Kilo TT stripper. Normally I'd probably go Kilo, but I'm kind of leaning Fuji as the 2016 Fuji is being sold for only $300 as opposed to the 2017 model which is closer to $500 and appears to be identical. I do know they are different geo's and I'm not super partial to one over another in this situation. I've rode bikes similar to both, and they both feel fine to me.

I don't know a ton about parts/components though, but from what I've gathered the Fuji has better wheels than the Kilo and everything is basically a wash quality wise. Maybe someone could add more info on this, or correct me if I'm wrong. Basically is there any reason from a quality stand point to pay $100 extra for the Kilo?

the kilo is the gold standard by which all entry level ss/fg are measured.

They're both entry level/budget bikes. I'd go with the Fuji.

Like I said the Kilo vs Fuji at full price I'd go for the Kilo since I know it's so widely recommended and would be cheaper in that case. Is it a better option than the Fuji at the sale price though?

The Fuji Track has the same quality Chinese chromo frame as the Windsor Clockwork, whereas the Kilo TT is a better quality Taiwanese frame with nicer welds, Reynolds 520 tubing and a brazed fork with a nice cast crown. So, the Kilo is an upgrade, whereas the Fuji is not. If you buy the Kilo, pay an extra $50 to get the Pro model with better wheels and cranks.
