Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Doesn't look like much, but it's got it where it counts.

I've done nine races on it so far and it's been flawless, really. It's a tad heavy (basic double butted 4130) but not terribly so.

Belt drive

I think im more excited about a belt driven fixed gear. Anyone know of any other belt driven single speed bikes besides that Trek?

They don't recommend a belt drive for fixed gear it is not designed for the loads of the back force that you might apply. There are a bunch of belt drive frames that you could easily make a SS out of.

I think if belt drive was all it's theoretically cracked up to be, we'd be seeing a lot more of it by now.

Tutto - Cinelli

If anybody is really that interested...it looks like this bike is already filtering out to shops in other parts of the world - just not in the US yet

Love love love this frameset. I already have a steel bike for commuting/gravel/knocking around town - really like the fact that I can lock it up anywhere without worrying about it getting stolen and not worry too much about scraping it up. If I had this frame I'd be a lot more sensitive about that, which defeats the purpose of having a this type of bike for me... oh well, eventually I will find a way to convince myself that this frame would be worth the money.
