Cinelli Frames Vigorelli vs Bolt vs Parallax vs Histogram
What end use are the different Cinelli frames aimed at? Why would you buy a Bolt over a Parallax or a Histogram or whatever. I think the Vigorelli in both steel and aluminum is intended for the track but are the rest basically street frames?

the end use? they're designed for fixie street cred, bonus points for the most expensive frame set.
all the frames you've named are suitable track or crit bikes, i think it comes down to the riders personal preference really, slight differences in geo etc. but probably most commonly are just people who like the bike and got the coin to drop. |
I'd been looking at the Vigorelli earlier this year, as I wanted to do a build up from a frame. I ended up getting side tracked but I'm again thinking about it.
I think it looks great (2016 version?) and the prices I'm seeing aren't ridiculous (~$600). Are there known issues? Seems to be a great frame. I did read an article or 2 stating that some have drilled the seat stay bridge to mount a brake. If anybody would like to chime in I'd be very interested in more info.. |
There are lots of little differences between these frames. Water bottle mounts vs. none. Level top tube vs. sloping (lo-pro). Different seat post sizes. Smooth joints vs. visible weld fillets.
Which frame you'll prefer can only be decided by you, after careful study. Don't concern yourself too much with what they are "intended" for. Figure out what you like in a bike and get the one which most closely matches that. |
The parallax is intended to be a criterium bike with tighter geo than the vigorelli.
The vigorelli is intended to be an all-around track bike. The MASH frame aka the Bolt, histogram, OG grays green/white (same frameset/ geo but with different MASH livery) is a tamer pursuit frame that makes it streetable/ bearable to ride. Technically any track bike is also a streetbike. All of the above are originally supplied with forks that are pre-drilled by Cinelli but cosmetically hidden behind a cap. It's right behind the bulls-eye fork motif on some models. |
Thanks.
I poked around a little and it seems like the Bolt is the Histogram with bottle mounts and the Parallax is the Histogram with steeper angles (same tubing etc). Not buying one but was curious about all the different models. Seems like of different frames without much market differentiation. Also interesting that the MASH stuff is still on Cinelli site although collaboration is over.
