Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

First fixie / single speed

First fixie / single speed

New to the biking community, and I want a fixie / single speed just for riding along the streets and going to places. Nothing above 300pounds would be the best. I'm currently looking at the vikign fx 700x and want some better suggestions, for example more colourful and cooler looking ones, and with drop bars. Thanks

I would hope no one would be riding a bike that was above 300lbs

Purefix and Bigshot offer the most most colourful options for riding slowly along the street.

Anyone that suggests a BigShot should be banned for no less than 30 days.

Buy one of them. Plenty of colours and quality parts for a cheap bike.

I actually started on a BigShot and it wasn't terrible. I swapped the freewheel almost immediately, but everything else held up fairly well. Not the best $250 I've spent, but certainly not the worst. lol.

I did as well. Swapped out everything but the seatpost and chain I think. Heavy piece of overpriced garbage. Would work well as a boat anchor.
