Frame
I just had the idea to build my own single speed bike. Does anyone has good experiences with a special frame or brand?

You could also tell us what you like and dislike about your current bike and if you are looking to upgrade or add a bike (n+1 is important). Give us some base other than a single speed For me I am looking to build up a fixed gear road bike with clearance for 700x32 with a lightweight steel frame w/track ends and full carbon 1 1/8 straight steerer fork. I am running brakes front and rear most likely eeBrakes with some form of aero/basebar. No need for rack mounts but two bottle cage mounts. This would give someone a platform to tell me I am looking for this frame or that frame. Granted in this situation I kind of know what I want but three other bikes have gotten in the way and so I don't need much advice now. |

first thanks for your reply!
IŽll try to be more concrete: I already have a bike for my daily use. My idea is do build a minimalistic and sporty fixed gear bike only for short distances on the street. A good combination of quality and design is my main goal. My budget is not fixed. At the moment my preferred material for the frame steel but if someone has good arguments for carbon IŽll think about that as well. IŽll need a front break. Lightweight is a can but not a must. No need for any additional tools. |

I think steel is your best choice, and there are lots of options. I own two Soma Rushes, and they are very high quality and have a sporting geometry that is not extremely track tight, but not laid back road either.
