Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Hey Surly, 5th Ave & Warren in BK tonight...

Don't know if you are aware, but this was the corner where the woman was crushed to death by a truck yesterday. I, astride my costly, 'unridden' Brooklyn as you so pointed out, stopped to pay respect along with about 50 other riders.

You give me crap because I stopped to explain to a passerby what happened, then walked my bike across the street to continue on my way? Nice. Maybe next time you see me, I'll be on my fixed gear, and I'll get a thumbs up, a high five, a butt slap, and a chest bump ... instead of insulted.
