Red is faster. Looks like she's built more for comfort than speed anyway though. Nice job with the paint.

My Takara still has its original paint, the same color yours started with. It's kind of scratched up, but not too bad.
And I can tell you that red is definitely not a fast color for these bikes. It's a comfortable color. A durable and practical color. But a heavy, lazy color that's more inclined to utility than sportiness.
Your new paint scheme looks like an improvement, if you're trying to get any performance out of the bike.

Yes. Frame was stripped, primed, wetsanded, re-primed, re-wetsanded, and then color was applied. The blue was wetsanded, as was the orange. The white, applied last, was not. The frame has not been clear-coated yet.
I used Rustoleum 2x paint over Rustoleum self-etching primer. The clear (already on fork--not shown) is "regular" Rustoleum "crystal clear". Blue is called "Spa Blue" and the orange is "Real Orange".

Why didn't you pop out the head set cups? Just curious?

Surprisingly, masking the stays was not difficult at all. I don't have a tool for the cups--and they were not hard to mask either. This is my first attempt at doing anything more than changing a tire. I had my LBS take out the BB, and then I bought the tool...

I have some striping to do on the lugs, decals and then clear. Once the frame is "dry", putting it back together is quick.

I did a pinstripe on the headtube lugs and on the chainstays where the blue/orange meet is about 1/2" That was the plan all along...
