Why must people always say "come at me, bro"? I don't get why everything must be a threat and have to deal with "bros"? I think the bike looks reasonable minus the pedals which could easily be found in pink or at least silver.

Its a meme/cliche that originated from the lovely MTV series Jersey Shore. where a juiced-up greaser tries to pick a drunken fight at a bar. In the above post, it was used ironically because the bike is not depicted as being angry or aggressive, in contrast to the quote. Plus he used a winking emoji.

That's pretty dope. Those pedals make sense if you're cruising in sandals or whatever. Surreal that I was at that same beach a couple weeks ago.

I too read it as a playful invitation to take a jab at him for having Mixte with pink accents.

I dig the bike. I dig the pink. A pink bottle would spice it up IMO.

But the saddle slammed forward on an extreme set back post is killing me. Buy a damn straight post.

Ahhh, yes the Jersey Shore. What was that thing, Snookie and The Superstition and they did stupid things in the armpit of 'Merica! I never watched it but I saw the South Park episode on it which was funny as I remember it.

I guess it could be funny. Maybe I am just not as much of a hep cat as I used to be with all the radical references the kids made. I don't know wasssssssuuuuuuuuuuuuupppppp any more but I will try not to have a cow, man! Stay tubular (not the kind of tire), brodudes, time to go fuel up with some go-gurt and dunkaroos.

Thanks for any complimentary comments on my Wife's bike. My "come at me bro" was really mostly rhetorical and sarcastic/ironic. Strangely, I'd used it a couple times recently in pics of a couple other of my bikes without anybody mentioning it. It actually had no relation to this bike being a step-thru or having pink accents - it is just a little dig at the next-to-nothing postcount dumb-ass who isn't capable of riding his bike in my neck of the woods and whined about it, and any posty Freds in this group who supported him

I built (and overspent on) it for my wife only to have her tell me she wasn't so fond of bike riding after all. This thing makes one too many bikes crammed into too small of an abode so one of them has to go (bike not wife)...

I keep wanting to build my wife a sweet vintage steel bike. She tells me "I've already got my bike*, don't need another. Guess I'm a bike monogamist." So I build another one for me and periodically check in to see if she wants another. It's not all bad.


*1995 Trek 7900 Multitrack. Top of the line hybrid in CF/aluminum. A very nice bike, but still...

We actually had a vintage Marinoni road bike in our shop that some dude's brother owned and I was geeking out on it. There is a movie about him which I saw a preview of and fell in love.

I posted pics of this one after initially putting it together a year ago. I've made a few changes since then, and it's a very good bike. I like it a lot. It's not very comfortable and not exactly easy to ride, but it's fast and fun, and I would have a hard time parting with it.

If you mean a level saddle, I don't think so. I've experimented a lot. Any more nose-up, and it puts pressure on stuff that I don't want pressurized. This bar, stem, seat height, frame geometry, etc. puts a lot of weight on my hands--that's its own issue. But my pelvis is at just the right angle to keep things happy in the nether regions, i.e., the weight that goes through the seat does so via bony areas, not through my junk.

I'm not complaining. I have bikes I can sit on all day without pain. Not so with this one, but it's a worthy compromise for what it does offer.

Edit: You did get me thinking, jt. Since setting my seat angle, I've made a few minor adjustments in other areas, so maybe it's time to re-examine. I'll try tilting it back a few degrees--give me an excuse to go for another ride... You know, to check it out.

Thanks, man. The rims are Reynolds DV-3K clinchers, about 48mm deep. Phil Wood hubs. 20 bladed spokes on the front, radial pattern. 20 butted spokes on back, laced 2x. They're my first carbon wheels, and I'm quite happy with them. I got them used for a really fair price.
