All City Big Block. Soma Rush.

Start with a good quality frame and go from there. Spend most of your budged on frame and wheels. Scavenge everything else and upgrade later. If you have $500 or $600 you can save a little longer and get to whatever you need for a good bike. Used steel frames are a good deal.

Forgot about the Soma Rush...yeah a Soma Rush would be neat. It would look especially nice with a retro-esque build which could be done reasonably cheaply and still get some good parts here and there.

Aventons crack because they're cheap garbage.

I regret buying my mataro low. I had to warranty my frame and my warrantied frame cracked in the same spot. Right where the seat stays meet the seatube. Right on the weld. I know it's aluminum but I don't get how you can manufacture bikes that crack so easily and also sponsor a team that raves in the red hook crit. #stealisreal. Save your money and buy an all city.

What do you guys think of Bianchi pista? Specifically this one Pista | Bianchi USA

is the frame any good?
is it heavy?
Would it be better than a standard 6061 aluminum frame?
Are the stock hubs, and rims good?

I don't think it's better than my current bike but I could be wrong.

Are the stock hubs, and rims good? Meh.

Not something I'd spend $770 on.

So save a little bit more money and get a Big Block? I've also seen some nature boys for sale but I would rather get something that has a "true track" geometry.

What about this bike in comparison to all the bikes that have been mentioned?

TBH I think the Gazzetta and Big Block are both overpriced for what they are, but I'd definitely take the Big Block between the two. The Gazzetta is just a run of the mill, and pretty ugly IMO, steel frame that happens to say Cinelli on it.

Just to throw something else into the mix, there are a couple of odd-ball things about the #kilo-tt. First of all, it has a 1" threadless fork, instead of the industry standard 1 & 1/8. Also, the crank arm length is 165mm, instead of the standard 170mm. They probably aren't deal-breakers per se, but it might be hard to get a good fit as far as stem length since there aren't as many 1" stems (and tons of 1&1/8 choices), and depending on your height, the crank arm length might not be the best choice. You can get a shim and put a 1&1/8 stem on it though, and swap the crank. Think Schwinn in the '70s with their non-standard thin seatposts and other bits. How much fun is that? :-p

The Kilo headtube size is dumb, but the crank length is a non-issue. You'd be hard pressed to find someone who can sit on a bike with 165mm cranks and one with 170mm cranks and tell the difference.

Buy a $5 shim and you can use any 1-1/8" stem you like. There's a smaller selection of replacement 1" threadless forks and headsets, but it'll be long time before finding replacements is an actual problem.

I think I'd be more annoyed by the seatpost diameter, but that's not something you switch out often.

Didn't even notice that. 26.8mm. Never even heard of that size.

Honestly, if I wanted another track bike. I'd be hard pressed not to buy one of these:

Yeah 26.8 seatpost diameter is obnoxious. I hated it about my kilo.

I've come across some nice frames and I wanted to know what you guys think.

The first one is this vintage Japanese Soma Competition for 125$

The other is the Fuji Obey for 300$

Are these frames worth getting over the ones that we've been talking about? They seem super nice.
