Adding another to the pile. I'll probably sell the Merckx to make room.

I LOVED the salmon pads and regret buying a different brand. Are the black ones a similar compound? Similar stopping power? Still Koolstop right?

Koolstop makes a dual compound pad.
Best of both worlds. http://www.swimcyclerun.com/user/pro...-stop-dual.jpg |

I've run the salmon pads before and they have been great. Mostly would change for aesthetics.

youll need a bigger range in the back for some real climbing once you move out this way.
those salmon pads will probably not last very long either. |

Man! The Thrive and the Klein are both sweet looking bikes. The shift cables on the Klein are a little odd for my taste tho

Lower range than 34x32? I guess I could get a RoadLink and an 11-36.
I'm running Shimano 50-34 cranks with a SRAM PG-1170 11-36 cassette and a GS mid cage derailleur. No RoadLink is used. Not saying it will work on any particular bike but lots of guys are doing this and it shifts perfectly fine on my bike. I cross chain the crud out of it. What chain is on the Thrive? -Tim- |

I didn't realize how crappy this photo was, but its the only one I have of the bike so far.
Cranks are temporary, I'm waiting on a set of crankarms to come in. https://i.imgur.com/XOfEd0Fh.jpg |
Commuter:
I've since fixed that front tire btw. And I'm getting my old Cetma 5-rail back so I wont have to use this rack https://i.imgur.com/oBvLNbSh.jpg https://i.imgur.com/1M1zoegh.jpg https://i.imgur.com/Cofy60kh.jpg https://i.imgur.com/kdLinAKh.jpg |
^^ My wife had one of those with the rear brake mounted underneath the chain stays. Yours is better. :)

First ride on this thing today, and I'm lovin' it. Still need to get the steer tube cut and headset swapped, but it's done enough to have some fun on.
