Tires too big

Hi there,
I bought new tires for my fixed gear, but they are too big... can't return them so do you guys have an idea how to fit them on my bike? Maybe polish the frame till there is a pit or something like that. Pretty desperate so any help is welcome!
Thanks

Whether this is possible, let alone a good idea, let alone one worth spending your time on, depends on so many things. For one, how much clearance do you need? You're almost certainly better off just buying the correct size tires.

Be aware that tires stretch with time after being inflated. Whatever you do now to get enough clearance to ride the bike will not be enough in a few weeks. Far better to just consider this a learning experience, get the right size and ride in peace of mind. (We've all made similar mistakes. You weren't the first and won't be the last.)

Get different tires.

Or since you are dead set on using these tires, just get a different bike that has the needed tire clearance. :thumb:

If it's the brake bridge that's in the way - saw it off!

I think it’s a great idea.

Just install them and ride it. Either your frame will wear in to fit the tires or the tires will explode and you can buy new ones when you get out of the hospital.

Sell the tires.

Get over your fear of confrontation and just about anything is possible.

This thread rules.

Lets recap:

- Sell tires
- Return tires
- Modify bike frame
- Ride tires towards hospital

There's something zen about low-information OPs. In the expert's mind, there are few possibilities. But to the beginner's mind, there are many. :)

Bite the bullet and get new tires. Try to sell the too-big tires for half price.

once broke a tooth on a pit so I vote for not polishing the bike

I bought a Tesla but my gas station only carries gas and not electricity. Is there some mod I can do to make the thing run on gas?

Could use a gas generator to charge it. Not the fastest but would work. Most of our electricity still comes from burning fossil fuels of some sort.

prooftheory 02-12-18 02:14 PM

Should I just stick the generator in the passenger seat and run a cable out to the charging plug or rig some sort of harness to attach it to the outside?

REDMASTA 02-12-18 02:59 PM

Passenger seat works and maybe another in the backseat so you can run them in parallel.

prooftheory 02-12-18 03:27 PM

Should I vent them out the window or just straight into my face?

REDMASTA 02-12-18 04:41 PM

Run them with the windows up, will help keep you warm during the winter, but roll them back down if you black out.

Mount the generator near the batteries....to keep them warm.

This reminds me of the time when I was running studded tires on my fuji track pro.
