this nefarious msgr. bag

It's a ripoff Patagonia that my Dad gave me as a gift, so I try to use it from time to time. But how come it always slips down to my side? I have to push the thing back onto my back something like every 5 mins. of a ride. Is it possible to be too skinny for one of these bags?

Hipsters, bike messengers, poseurs, whoever, help me out, I'm tired of feeling bag-challenged on my bike.

all you can really do is tighten it, a lot

travsi 06-17-05 01:19 PM

i think the patagonia bags don't have a stabilizing strap, if you were able to sew one on that would solve the problem.

1. Get a new bag that has a stabilizing strap a la most messenger bags.

or

2. Use a back pack

how much do you think it would cost to get one of these custom-made?

Update: Just went out for a ride, used the stabilizer strap (yes, the large Patagonia ones have 'em). Still slid down, though not as much. I'm thinking I'm just too skinny for the damn thing. Next option: an Ortlieb that I just bought off of a friend. Thing is, thing says "MESSENGER" in big letters on the back, and as I'm NOT one, nor wish to portray one in public, I feel veeeeeeeery poseur-esque even using it. All I know is, my North Face backpack just isn't cutting it--too small. erg.

make sure the bag's actually up high across your shoulders, not hanging across your lower back...

Nefarious is a great word. Thumbs up for good vocabulary.

hey, man, thanks. I decided to try harder when I read 'impudent freewheel removal' by A. King in the Mechanics section. I say we all work on integrating arcane argot into all of our thread titles.

PS Fugazi, the only truly revolutionary band.

Correct words for the use should be more often. Unfortunatly, this is the internet. Often posts might not even include a word, just awolese/

Why do I bother to correct typos when typing drunk? Because it's the right thing to do.
