Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

wooden rim raleigh skip tooth track bike?

Going back to visit a local bike guy who once had a shop (for many years) and now has the bikes in his collection lined up in his basement.

He is selling, and offered me a raleigh track bike for $800. It is skip tooth, one speed, with wooden rims.

There are rods coming off the handlebars going near the front wheel.

I will try to go back and get photos today.. This guy has 2-3 dozen bikes, lots of cruisers , but this one caught my eye as it is a raleigh, and i know a small amount about them as I bought a 1932 mint all original sports tourist a month ago. .

And he is 1 mi from my house!

I would drop 800 bones on that regardless of condition. If you take ownership, you had better damn well share some detailed photos mate. Something like this gets my green envy meter way up. Also, if you purchase it, put me at the top of the queue of buyers if you plan on selling it.

Got the skip tooth one speed and many others over in marketplace right now. While the one speed track bike says R on the head badge, I did not get a chance to pull it off the shelf., as the owner was heading out and did not have much time for me to take photos.
I am sure the information I supplied will identify the bike.
