It's a sprocket, not a cog
Winter is long and I need a hobby. :p
Tell me Shimano is wrong. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...9bd39702d4.jpg |
You're both right. As far as I know, cogs are the teeth on a gear and sprockets are gears that mesh with chains rather than other gears.
Winter has a ways to go. |
Let me speed this thread up. OMG, LOL, WTF - Only Hitler would consider that a COG!!!
Another great obby is to try to sound English by not pronouncing any H's. Try it out: "Ello arriet, ow's your usbands ealth?" Ours of fun for everyone. |
^^ obby
The capital O is sublime. |

Just watched 8 Mile so I thought I'd break it down for you all
Yo yo, spin that sh_t Sprocket: Sounds funny but don't knock it You'll lose it all if you don't lock it and without one you'll just walk it but when you're fixed you will rock it like a power plug in a socket put them greens in yo pocket... Cog: Like a lyin witness in the docket ain't no matter how you talk it on the street you cannot hawk it and the fixers will just mock it till in the end you will say fock it... word. |

Cogs a cool word though. I'm gonna keep using it for the little spiky thing on the back wheel. ⚙️ My multi geared bike gets sprockets all round. |
This is deep.

Sprocket, sprocket, sprocket, sprocket, sprocket, sprocket. Wow, that's a weird word. It sounds Victorian? "That's a fine sprocket you've gotten us into."

There is no Easter Bunny! Over there? That's just some guy in a suit!

Correct. Furthermore, it's also not a gear. So everyone is actually riding a fixed sprocket bike... except the cool kids, they're all rolling sprockies.
|
Now Sprockies is something I can get down with!

A cog is a sprocket, but a sprocket isn’t necessarily a cog. A cog is a kind of sprocket, one of many.
Thats my understanding… |
A cog is a tooth on a sprocket.

Yesterday I inadvertently ended up stationary near some other bicyclists - conversation turned to my fixie and having read this thread earlier in the morning I told them that it is a Sprockie. They looked at me like I was weird and just rode off. Apparently this term did not catch on  |
