Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

There is no way you can claim that this thread was entirely serious to begin with. Even if people end up stealing helmets off roadies, organizing such an activity is so counter to its nature that its absurd. In conclusion, lighten up.

Drunkenly,

The ad was created by Oakland , California based Carol H. Williams Advertising, which specializes in the African American market.

The spot dubbed "Poetry in Motion," shows Mos Def and the Envoy Denali sharing the same space on screen with visual special effects bringing parts of the vehicle together to form the new product. Mos Def’s poetry underscores the spot with product attributes interspersed within his lines. In November 2004, a Yukon Denali advertisement titled "Reflections" featured Mos Def's song "Climb" from the 2002 release Black on Both Sides.

"This spot is aimed to reach African American consumers through more general market broadcasting placements," said Rosenblum.

The new commercial is scheduled to begin airing nationally on networks and programming including ABC, ESPN, UPN and BET.

"We set out to encapsulate the unique qualities of the Denali line of SUVs in this creative execution,” said Raymond Clemons, Vice President and Creative Director for Carol H Williams Advertising. “We used some special effects to build on the confident style and ability the Envoy Denali has. Mos Def further defines those parallel qualities of understated ability and style through his talent and achievements.”

A respected Hip Hop artist and entertainer, Mos Def currently appears in “The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy” where he plays the character Ford Prefect. He is set to return in the sequel to “The Italian Job” in 2006. He appeared in the critically acclaimed “Monster’s Ball” and later appeared in “Brown Sugar” and the HBO Film “Something the Lord Made,” in which he was nominated for an Emmy."

this is absolutely the most amazing thread I've ever read- I laugh at it everytime I read it. I once had a history teacher who would give tangental lectures starting with the battle of manasas that would only end with the proper cuban way to roll a cigar. He would also talk about fly-fishing in between. Though, I think all of you have outdone him. Now, is it too predictable? or should I expect another random comment? or should I expect a comment that has bearing to this reply, though only serves to poke fun at it, because, as we all know, that's all the internet is good for. God forbid anybody showing interest in a race- omg! its brakeless- now thats just plain reckless.

ok lemming feading frenzy, ready go!

why hate on rodies? people try to hard to separate themselves and concerned with what other people are doing. I ride a true track bike - no brakes... but don't hate on anyone that doesn't. A friend and I were riding over the bridge and my friend got a flat. So many nice roadies stopped to help. They gave us a new tube plus a CR2 cartridge to inflate it. We tried to pay for the product but they refused payment. Just do your thing but not at the extent of others.

And Frisco is Gangster!

I want to race it I want to race it I want to race it!
And show up at the finish with roadie heads hanging from my belt and a full suspension frame with disk brakes between my teeth covered in the blood of my slain enemies!
Slayer saves!
