Here is one of my fixed gear projects. I call this my Frankenfixie ;-)
It started as a State Bike core model.
- Replaced the seat with the stock seat from my 2018 Fuji Track Elite track bike.
- Replaced the bars and crankset with the stock bars/crankset from my 2018 BMC Trackmachine TR02
- Added a 3T stem
- Added Dura-Ace pedals
- Added HED trispoke wheels
This pic is the middle of an 80 mile ride in Idaho (from Riggins to White Bird Summit and back) and roughly 4,000 ft of climbing. 46t/15t. Back pedaled down most of the descents. Freakin' amazing scenery and ride.
My next two projects are converting my BMC Trackmachine so that it is street legal (new wheelset with coaster brake), and a 1973 Bi-Mex ten speed to fixed conversion. Will post both next week.

Thanks! Yup, I race road and track, so these sort of rides are pretty standard. :-) I wouldn't ordinarily climb 2K feet on a fixed gear in that gearing, but it serves a purpose....low cadence, moderately high power efforts over long periods of time are excellent strength building training. It was either that or do squats in the gym for an hour! That is boring as ****.

Oh man that is so cool.. I know cantilevers aren't typically as strong as v-brakes but it kills me to see that empty cable hanger on the stem. Excellent build though, and like other people said, I've never seen that frameset before!
How did you get the chain tension right? Did you find a "magic ratio" or do you have an eccentric BB or hub?
Thanks! I cant wait to get some silver box section rims on it. I really do love how it turned out, wheels aside.

I wanted to go with the original cantis this bike came with but they were in a pretty horrible condition, and these Avid SD 5 V-brakes are just nuts, they are so good. It has a sliding rear dropout actually, so tensioning wasn't a problem. The current issue is that the chain is a tad too short like this, and the axle sits in a rather dodgy position atm. Need to find a bigger rear cog and add another chain link.
Ah I see them now! They looked like vertical dropouts on my phone

This is my track bike. The frame and fork are a 1971 Raleigh Professional Track. The wheels are newish Mavic tubulars. The rest is a hodgepodge. The bike is a gas to ride. The gear ratio, 84 inches, is higher than I usually ride, but I'm pleased to find that it's easy enough to bring the bike up to speed on flat ground. Once I'm up to my natural preferred cadence, I'm moving faster than I go on my other bikes.
I've been commuting on it in the streets lately, as my commuter bike is out of commission. Since this bike is light, I would ruin the ride if I attached stuff to it. I carry everything in a backpack so the rider+cargo is all sprung weight. I usually use a tool bag on the back which also has my tail light.

Ramp Rat, a Bridgestone 200 frame I picked up cheap, years ago. With some parts from a $25 LX level mtb from a thrift store and a few other bits, I built it up as a singlespeed for getting around the airport ramp where I worked. It was perfect for this, and if I wasn't actually needing to tow or fuel a plane, I could get anywhere on the airport faster with the bike than any of our motorized vehicles.
