Anybody order from Velomine before?

Now that retrogression's website is down until mid February I was wondering if anyone has ordered from them (wheels) and what was your experience? Good? Bad? Also what other websites do you suggest?

I ordered my first wheelset from them back around 2010. I had a good experience. Received them pretty quickly, well packaged

I bought a closeout 2017 Colnago C-RS from them. It arrived quickly, in the box, in perfect condition. $1299 for a 105 bike with a frame that goes for $1700 was a good deal. Of course I stripped it down to the bare frame, sold off the entire build kit and rebuilt it with Campy Chorus and all other parts, higher level.

Ordered wheels from them. Well built, good value, still going strong over 8 years later. Can't go wrong with VeloMine.

Me too. Two wheelsets, both great values and very good quality.

I hope the OP comes back in order to let us know how it went. I did some face-to-face business with Velomine at their Springfield, IL store and found them to be super friendly and knowledgeable. Great deals on quality merchandise.

I'm sorry to dissapoint you. I ordered the same wheels that I was planning on ordering from velomine from my local shop. I will be making the final purchase Feb 7th. However, I will most likely be ordering Sram Omnium cranks from velomine in March because they're only $199.99 plus tax, plus $13.75 for USPS priority mail shipping cost.

Never apologize for money spent at the LBS.

They sent me two pairs of untrue rims in a row in 2015 so I haven't bought anything since then. about a 2mm wobble on each. Reply was that this was "within spec"

Late to the party as ususal - how'd I miss this one?

Well, 5-6 years ago I bought a couple of their budget friendly Sun Ringle wheelsets...one is long gone on a bike that got sold but the other that ended up with my kid is still going strong. And I've bought some other stuff on closeout there too, that AFAIAC were great deals.

Perhaps, Pukeskywalker, you or others here are not aware that unless they say in a listing that a particular wheelset was built in-house, most of Velomine's wheelsets come from Wheelmaster and are machine-built. Not that there's anything wrong with that

But it does explain how ryan_rides was able to buy the same wheels at his local shop. The good thing about Velomine is that thankfully they are not too greedy and they typically offer those wheelsets at very good prices that, unless you have an in somewhere, are lower than most local shops.

However - since they are machine built, it is entirely possible that any of those wheelsets may be less than perfect, which most likely accounts for your problems, Pukeskywalker. At the very least you should de-stress them yourself before riding them. At worst, they could very well need a good truing,

I'm looking at, and trying to decide between, a couple of different wheelsets from Velomine right now myself, and I don't think the ones I'm interested in are all that chea...err...inexpensive. But I know they are pre-builts so while I am hoping it won't happen, I am aware that if I do buy them they could need some work...

Sorry for TL;DR - short version is...Velomine is...fine

Each time I bought wheels from them, I rode them for a week and then took them to my LBS to be hand tensioned and trued. No big deal.
