Colored hubs.
 

Just a question,

I've seen black Phils, Pauls and know that Level has done a run in black. And I've seen tid bits about other colors.

But, are these powder coated, or anodized?

If they are powder coated, can you just send a hub to someone to be powder coated, or is there some specific type of job than needs to be done with a hub?

Most of them are anodized, but I don't see why you couldn't powder coat one.

Hey Will, just draw on them with a paint marker and build that bike allready.

I know the Levels were anodized. Other than that I'd be speculating.

wouldn't powder coating plug up the spoke holes? and throw off the press-fit tolerance of cartridge bearings?
I guess you could mask these off, but that would be such a pain in the butt.

the phils are anodized too.

HA! Well, I'm carefully caculating my $. I'm gonna have to use my uniform allowance for uniforms this year, so that takes a chunk. Ironically, by my numbers, it'll be done just before I go on deployment. :rolleyes:

I'm beggining to look at the knives I have (used to collect them) and may end up selling some to buy parts. They gather dust anyway.

Philwood Co. just emailed me back. It goes that they don't powder coat, they anodize, and that white hubs are not a color they can anodize. So, white is out then. Ok, oh well. Just an idea.

Steel you powder coat.
Aluminum you anodize.

You can powdercoat aluminum, titanium, steel, dildanium, or just about anything that wont lose its structural integrity for a short time at 300 degrees or so. Carbon fiber no es bueno for powdercoating. Most of Velocity's al rims are powdercoated (they make pink ones, too, if you're down with that.

In addition to heat resistance, powder coating requires that the part be conductive.

It's just that ano is a much more durable finish than powder coating, so there's not a lot of reason to powder coat alu.
