Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? bike names?

sorry if this has been done, I just realized my bikes had no owner given names, like Clarence Flipper or Denise, wondered if other people named their bikes, looking for inspiration.

i named my pista 'sylvia'. i think that's my only named bike. i just call the rest of them by their manufacturer/builder's name... quite exciting. to make it even more exciting i stand up and put both arms in the air like i'm doing 'the wave'.

I named my mountain bike "Asshammer" because I wanted it to be tough and homoerotic.

I've been plagued with this question for the past month when I bought my new bike, sadly though, I still don't have a name. I guess it'll get a name when I'm out riding and it hits me. In that case I hope the name isn't Escalade, Hummer, or Mack.

i have started calling my trek "the greyhound" cuz she is grey, and sleek, and o so speedy. the other bikes go by their marque, or sometimes "the cargo bike", "the folding bike", etc.

the orange bike (unbadged french conversion)
the schwinn

i love my bikes, but i don't/can't really anthropomorphize them...that is, until they throw me. then it gets personal.

What's up with only having grips all the way at the tops of the bars? Seems like you'd be better off with a nice narrow pair of flat bars.

I tried flat bars, but I like all the useful curves of the full drop. I just spend the majority of the time on top.

Silver bike = was The Coors Light, but is now Andre since someone put one of those "OBEY" stickers on it w/ Andre the Giant's picture.
White bike = The Shark (from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas)
the red one = The Schwinn (yeah, it gets no love).

I have another frame coming soon. Its a schwinn madison track and has yet to be named. I think it might get stuck with simply, "The Madison"
