New beater gets 650b conversion

Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? New beater gets 650b conversion

So I found this frame a few years ago at a thrift store. It was rough, but 531 Treks are pretty fly. I knew it had a tweaked hanger when I got it, but it ended up being a year long process to get the stuck seatpost out and rusted in fixed cup.

During the beginning of all this, I found a set of GrandBois Hectres at the co-op that I've been dying to find a use for. I bought the cheapest 650b rim I could find and laced it to an extra hub and had already built up a front. I went to try installing the wheel/tire combination and found nothing I owned would hold them. Then I started looking at this scabrous old Trek and decided to try denting the chainstays for extra clearance. With little regard for aesthetics, I went to town with a vise-grip and some nuts/bolts. Voila, tire clearance.

Still need to do some fit work and probably fit some fenders.
