Noob here.I am 49 years old, originally from Maryland and I used to ride bmx bikes as a kid and did some mountain biking on the weekends back in 2003. I haven't been on a bike since then.

In 2017 I moved to the finger lake region in NY. There are great , flat, scenic rail trails and the erie canal path nearby.

I wanted to get out and get some excercise so I read a lot of posts on this forum and I built a single speed , coaster brake, bike.

I decided on coaster brake because I usee to ride bikes as a kid with coaster brakes and I was familiar with them. I decided on single speed because I am using this bike on flat trails. I love the simplicity of the setup.

For me it's about excercise and fun. I took the bike out a few times last week for an hour each time. Today it was 43 degrees and lightly raining. I only saw two people on the trail and I rode for two hours. Man , i missed how much fun riding a bike is.

I really like how quiet the bike is and I really had a good time. I'll definitely be riding it a lot.
Thanks to all for all of the great posts and info here

That bike sounds like it’d be right up my alley.
Welcome aboard!

Syracuse native here, but currently in TX (ugh). Always nice to see other central NYers! Post a link to a pic of the bike. We love to see bikes, not just read about them in vague descriptors :-)

Hang out for a while and post around. This is fun forum, that way you can post pictures and have a good time.

Love to see the bike but also love to have new members that participate.
