missing ghost bike on Houston/Elizabeth?

Sorry - this isn't really a fg/ss item except that the bike was a memorial for a guy from the FG community.

I was riding by Houston and Elizabeth this morning and noticed that the ghost bike for Andrew was no longer there. Anybody know what is up? I hope it is something nice like his family wanting the bike and not some jerk from the city or neighborhood cutting it down.

I also noticed yesterday that the bike for Elizabeth on 5th Ave. in Brooklyn was still there.

Word is it was hit by a cab that jumped the curb. It is going to be repaired and replaced.

It might be on a different pole when it goes back up. I think the pole it was on is gone now too.

edit: even ghost bikes get run over in new york

Back on topic, a bit.

Ghost bikes... Can someone email me off board to fill me in on the NYC ghost bikes or any other cities where this is going on. I own www.ghostbike.org and would love to update it with more info from people involved in other cities.
