im sorry but the word fixie is such a lame name, I truly can’t stand it.
Again sorry for the ones who love using that word

I tend not to use the term "fixie" myself,* but have no problem with those who do. I really don't understand the amount of hate some have for the term. Use it or don't, who cares?
*But I do like to snuggle up with my blankie!

Is she your wifey though?
I don't much care for the term "fixie" and it is not like I don't have the time to say "fixed gear" or type it.

a 'fixed gear' is a nice looking bicycle with a fixed gear drivetrain
a' 'fixie' is a bike with a four spoke spinergy front wheel, a generic rear wheel, and rubber track grips that don't match any other color on the bike

'Reason why this is such a touchy issue is because the only people who use the term, "fixie," don't know how to ride fixed gear bikes.
Who says doggy? Little kids. I don't refer to my German Shepherd as doggy.
Whenever someone says 'Fixie' they mean, Ahhh, I don't ride those bikes !!!

haters!
I do like to say "fixie" often, but only in a fun/trolling kind of way and to actual cyclists. To laymen - I say "fixed gear".

Perhaps we should go British pedantic and insist these bikes be referred to as fixed-wheel ...

Your story reminds me of the time I was going to the store on my touring bike (drop bars but very upright, wide tires and had all the racks on it and a pannier) wearing winter clothes (most certainly non-cycling specific and baggier than I would want for a longer trip) to pick up earplugs, Twizzlers and some other stuff for an upcoming trip and some guys in a car yelled at me "Get outta here ROADIE". I was dumbstruck I was like "Huh? Roadie? Me?" I felt bad for the actual roadies who take such pride in their roadie-dom, I had been crowned their king by the divine will of some idiots in a car.
