Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

low down words from the mouth of a grandma!

So I was on my bike headed down B'way tonight - just going home after work - it was about 8:00. I had to wait to cross 23rd street b/c there was a lot of traffic. Finally, right before the light was about to change it was clear, so I jumped forward and went through the intersection.

There was an old lady half way across Broadway who I saw waaay in advance...she saw me too and stopped walking. She shook her cane (no kidding!) at me and said "HA HA!!! You co*k$ucker"

man.

That's the truth. I think I get honked at nearly every day on that section between 23/U. Sq. by cars who want me out of the traffic lanes. Did you notice the FedEx truck that is EVERY DAY parked in the bike lane around 15th/16th. I wish I could tip that thing over.

That place is F*cktacularly annoying. I used to ride it every day to get home (27th&6th to 2nd&d). If you're heading east just head to park and then take irving down below 20th

I find it way nicer to take 5th at that point, wider, don't have to deal with the union square bs and if you want to cruise down as far as grand via laguardia/west bway which are beautiful to ride. Probably a minute or two slower, but way less stress.

That's awesome. I like this one.

Hahahah....the two cars with slashes through them flanking the main image is pretty funny to me for some reason.
