Skid marks

Last night, I was out riding, after a birthday vegan burger and bar hop for my friend. I was practicing skidding and a number of times the front wheel turned a bit and hit my knee. Now I have several burn/scratches on the inside of my knee. I've heard of toverlap, but kneeverlap?? This ever happen to anyone else?

clean your underwear thats gross.

I did that nifty kevin bacon hop off the back of the bike thing last week but the inside of my knee caught on the tire and gave me a nasty graze. Now I have a really uncomfortable scab right where my knee articulates. So there.

how do you do the hop off the bike thing with clipless?

do you just not?

I've burned my right ankle a couple of times doing skids. Sometimes road rash feels better than tire rash.

if you are really far over the bars, it wouldn't surprise me if you hit your knees, given that they are much farther forward in such a skidding position than they are during normal riding.

that said, i've never had such a problem. i imagine, though, that if i had a smaller frame that would allow me to get nearly horizontal during a skid, i could have that happen.

It somewhat unrelated but I finally got long distance skids down last night on my first day on the new bike (first real track bike). That ***** is mad fun. Had to tell someone sorry.

A priest, a rabbi, and a clown walked into a bar...

This post is obviously a JOKE... but you forgot to mention pie, your messenger bag, stash pockets, and someone calling you a poser/hipster.

you really can unclip in a split second once you figure it out. or you unclip first and just push off the pedals like normal.

No! Its not a joke! A bit tongue in cheek, perhaps, but I really did burn up my knee last night!

You might be to low on your bars when skidding. Think ski jumper - stretch - reach as far forward with your head as you can - your body should be more or less straight. That should eliminate knee burn. Otherwise wear some longer pants?

I just unclip, and then when I feel like hopping off I do... its not like I fall off the bike as soon as I unclip, or reclip back in as soon as I try hopping off... I would reckon its easier to do with clipless than with clips and straps because there is less to get caught up in and you don't have to flip your pedals over... I just do it to impress the ladies really but I have found myself doing it all the time now, even if I have a huge load of groceries in the bag or I'm holding something huge in my hands....

I get this a LOT, actually I have a little patch on my knee as we speak, and It's really stinging cuz I'm sreally sweating. This happens a lot when I turn the back of the bike and I'm leaning over the bars a LOT.

today I went riding with one of my friends @ the Velodrome. Since it was early in the day the parking lot was empty so I had the chance to practice my soft skids. Much fun. ohh and riding the track was great as well. I put some pics in the (pics of your bike section)
