Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

i was going a pretty good clip down a hill when a mercury mountaineer buzzes by me. either the guy noticed his turn at the last minute or he was trying to get by me before the turn, either way he cuts a hard right directly in front of me. i did my best to brake and follow him into the the sidestreet since i have absolutely nowhere else to go. i had too much speed going to turn sharp enough and end up hitting the pass side of his car, folding his mirror and taking a paint sample off of his car with my horns. i somehow managed to not hit the pavement, but by the time i got stable again the dude was long gone. second hit and run i've been involved in during a 3 week time span. gotta love cycling in kc.

I've developed the mental game of memorizing plate numbers of cars... I practice it all the time. You can always leave a message on your cell phone so you don't forget. It probably isn't that big of a deal since you didn't go down, and it sounds like there was no damage to your or your bike... but in a perfect world, I'd prefer to make the lives of such hit-n-run miscreants as miserable as possible.

yeah, the incident a few weeks ago involved me hitting the pavement, but this one wasn't really that bad. i'm mostly pissed off that neither driver stopped, and in fact i could hear the guy today jam on the accelerator.
