a "is this a fair price" thread...

first off sorry if this isnt the right place to post this, but i'm wondering if i'm charging a fair amount for this bike i'm trying to sell

$450 for:
"very lightly used 56cm surly steamroller frame
fixed gear, 42x16
chris king threadless headset
shimano 600 brake, crank arms
brand new wheelset, noname rim/hubs, kenda koncept tires
brand new saddle
new chain "

does that sound right?

i'm trying to sell it on a local messageboard first, as i dont want to ship it if i dont have to, then ebay i guess.

Seems fair. Chris King headsets ain't cheap. The no name wheelet is a drawback, but the buyer would still be getting a good deal if everything is in nice condition.

its the grey one, 2004 isnt it? its in basically perfect condition, except for part of a decal on a chainstay being gone (says "fff fatties fit fine" on one side, and just "fff" on the other)

i'm the second owner, the first had just bought it, then had to sell it because they were having another kid or something

since then i changed out the stuff thats new on it

A fair price indeed. And better than an off-the-shelf job.

I count it as a bonus if a Surly already has the decals removed.

Sounds like a nice deal to me. If you only lived in NYC Id take it off you hands. (even though I just got rid of my 2004 surly as well)
