Trying to decide whether to modify or sell this. I moved into steep hills. Can this Phil Wood fixed hub be converted to free? Maybe I need to buy a geared folding bike. Any recommendations?

It has freewheel threads on the other side. Just buy a freewheel and flip the wheel.

Unique bike.
As grant40 says, that looks like a flip flop hub, so you should be able to swap it around and install a freewheel.

That is a unique front brake. If you go with a freewheel, I'd add both front and rear brake calipers and brake levers.

That bike is missing a lot of features to install a rear derailleur. But you could probably install a multi-speed rear hub if you wished. Cable routing would still be a bit of a pain. Nonetheless, worth considering.

Turns out Bike Friday sells dropouts if I decide to run a multigear wheel or just get a 3 speed freewheel. Brakes are planned, that's just a placeholder. Thanks for the tips! Nice to have options even on a weird application.
