I commute up to Northbrook from Chicago everyonce in awhile (not as much as AL5 would like) and one time I came in and there were a group of girls hanging out front and when I walked by in my whole hipster-bike outfit I heard them start talking about me. A couple of days later I was walking around in the building and I overheard them say "That's the cute guy that rides his bike...I heard he rides from chicago!" Yeah that totally ruled compared to when people used to think I delivered for Panda Express.

oh and the security guard hates bikers & drivers equally.

Wouldn't be a bad design idea, though, especially in the Wicker Park area, where (as David Brooks so eloquently opined) emulating messengers is our cultural pastime. But I've got a design in mind.

And, this way, I could give one to my father to wear as a lapel pin. (60 yrs old, still commuting on the orange Varsity he bought in college. Unlikely to be mistaken for a mess'r, but might wear it anyway).

Yes some guards can be a hassle, most are ok from what Ive seen. Having to leave my 15mm wrench at the county court house xray checkpoint seems a bit silly, but thats their rules not mine.The state supreme and federal court houses dont do that, go figure. Reality of the situation is though, its mostly window dressing, if someone wants to cause problems they will, doesnt matter how much security they have, I doubt a $7/hr rent-a-cop will do much when faced with anything serious.
