Race Face Adjustable BB
I know Phil Wood makes an adjustable BB called the Taperlock but I was curious about this Race Face one called the Taperlock as its cheaper and doesn't require any special tools. Has anyone had any experience with it? How much adjustment does it give?
Quote from Speedgoat website: "We love adjustable chainline bottom-brackets. In fact, we tend to think they're necessary when truly dialing in a bike--making sure it not only shifts well, but also lets you backpedal through technical terrain, and maximize your chain's life. Though the taper is too abrupt to work with Campy and some other cranksets, this is on our short list for favorite bottom-brackets." The 'taper is too abrupt to work with Campy some other cranksets' part worries me somewhat but I generally use shimano and I imagine that would be ok. |
I've had one in for about a year now- dig the adjustable chainline.
I had to replace the bearings this spring after ~4 months of winter commuting, so i don't think they're as well sealed as a basic shimano bb. fatbat |

miche is adjustable, but it's ISO tapered.

The RaceFace is JIS taper which is why they recommend against using Campy ISO taper cranks.

Also campy made a cartridge BB a while ago with adjustable cups. I have it on my mercian and they are really nice with replacable cartridges. Of course they don't make them anymore, and they are kind of hard to find, but I think this place might have some. and it looks like this. http://www.bikepro.com/products/bott...cart_parts.jpg http://www.bikepro.com/products/bott...rd_cart_bb.jpg |
