There is Fixed Magazine from NYC, described by noted internet firebrand Mike D. as "such a f---ing piece of s--t I wouldn't wipe my a-- with it."

Yea, that fixed mag was pretty lame. All slick and glossy. But thats the only one I've heard of.

Please, there are probably 700 fixed gears in Boston alone. (a slight exaggeration, perhaps, but not by much). Most people don't go to CMWC.

On top of that, urban riding is not just about fixed gears. In fact, if you look around, even in the most fixed gear crazy town, they're probably the minority of bikes on the street.

There are enough urban cyclists to sell at least two books specifically on the subject in recent years.

Personally, though, I hope nobody ever comes up with such a beast. If by "urban cycling" we mean straight up transportational cycling, there's not much to discuss. Gear for getting around and being able to land at a place where normal people hangout, parking tips, not getting hit by cars tips, getting around the city on off-road paths, and probably a few other topics. It seems like it would be a bit thin unless it was a very irregular magazine.

Now if you make it a little more like a skater mag, it could involve trials type stuff and all that.

London Cyclist magazine, the organ of the LCC is devoted to urban cycling.

There was even an article on fixed-gears and singlespeeds last issue...

i read diet rag and almost every issue has some article or review of some fixie/street/messenger/lucas brunell type thing

i gotta fess.. i like Bicycling mag.. it even comes to my mailbox.. not much about track bikes..maybe every so often.. but i like what they promote.. just the love of bikes no matter who you are and what you ride.. and im all for that

Ride Magazine for you east coast peeps (www.ridezine.com), Dirt Rag is a really good one. I also get Adventure Cyclist which came with my membership of the Adventure Cycling Association. Personally my favorite magazine is Cycling Plus which is a UK magazine.

i think it'd be cool to have a glossy beautiful quarterly, like Surfer's Path or The Snowboard Journal or The Alpinist. It'd be expensive and y'all would moan, but then we're people who ride 0-speed bikes for their simplicity and low maintenance and then spend all our days tweaking the gear ratio and building new wheels.

it'd need a clean, austere design, perhaps harking back to ye olde days. y'could probably even do it on uncoated stock and only use one or two colors, though these days it seems just as economical to go four-color. professional photography (mikorp?) would raise the printed pr0n to the level of the online version. perhaps a centerfold? hahaha! i love it.
