So the current bottom bracket I have in my frame is English threaded with a 108 mm spindle. Since I'm going to replace my cranks with Campy Record, I'd also like to get a matching Campy Record track bottom bracket or perhaps a Phil Wood bottom bracket with the correct taper. Now I'm having some trouble finding a 108 mm spindle Campy or Phil Wood bottom bracket. The Campy track bottom bracket I found on Branford Bike's website is 102 mm. That's quite a bit shorter than the bottom bracket I have on there currently. Will that still work out for me or will I be disappointed if I try to use it? Also, according to the Branford site, the Phil Wood bottom brackets only come with spindle lengths of 102, 111, and 115 mm, none of which are close to my current bottom bracket spindle's length of 108 mm. What should I do with all of these possibilities?!

Edit: Also, is it advisable to use a bottom bracket meant for double cranks? There are tons of Campy Record bottom brackets on eBay right now, but none of them are track specific and are instead meant for double or triple cranks. I guess this sort of relates to the Phil Wood question, since I didn't find any Phil Wood track specific bottom brackets.

the 111 is actually 110.5, and they also make a standard production 105. One or the other of those might work. They are also a small, super cool company, and might be able to make you a 108 if you ask them real nice.

Oh, I guess this applies to chain line because I'm not sure how to calculate what I'll need to achieve a desireable chainline.

I just checked Phil's website and it appears that they do make a 108 mm version as well as every increment lower and higher than that. Also, I've replaced my wheel set with an IRO set from my factory no name set. The rear spacing is 126 mm which I think is important when trying to calculate chainline.

match your BB spindle length to your cranks.
If you're changing cranks to Campy record it doesn't matter what your old BB spindle lenght was. New Record cranksets take a 111mm spindle. The Record *Pista* BB has a 111mm spindle. The 102 mm Record BB is the road version.

Gotcha. How could a road crank set with up to three chain rings take a spindle 9 mm shorter than the Pista bb length? This makes no sense!

It's got two smaller rings before the average track-size chainring. These rings aren't in danger of hitting the chainstay the way a big ring is, so they can run closer in.

only record and chorus are designed to take the 102mm spindle, and I believe they are only available as doubles (someone will surely prove me wrong on this). Any model below that will take the 111mm spindle. Record and chorus were designed by magic gypsies.
