it's more than i'd spend on a saddle and would probably feel a little wierd riding one, but the all carbon unpadded san marco's are so cool looking. especially the red one.

people with the storika... do the rivets bother you? it looks good, but unlike the Regals or Brooks, they seem to be 'in the way'

I love vetta saddles. I bought my first one on a whim from the LBS's used saddles bin for $1.50.
I then bought a 'box of seats' off ebay for $16 shipped, which came with 2 almost new selle italia turbos, 1 vetta MTB seat, 1 vetta road TT seat, and a really light ti-railed areon saddle. Sweet.

I'm thinking of stocking up on those vetta saddles from nashbar.

Serfas makes a saddle nearly identical to the SLR. http://serfas.com/racing_saddles/TI-RC.html. You can usually find them for about $55 on eBay. I have one on both my fixie and my geared bike and love them.

Most likely you're rotating your hips forward when you go on the drops. You need to keep your hip angle the same and bend at the waist. This flexibility is one of the factors that sets how low you can adjust your bars and still be comfortable.

Run 3 SLR Gel Flow's on my bikes and one plain Flite. Dig the SLR's for the long haul.

I'm in the market for a saddle for a new conversion I may take on. Any suggestions on non-leather saddles other than the SLR?

Try biker shorts or just the boxers with the built-in chamois, for any saddle and any length of time. trust me, they work.

nashbar has brooks b17 narrows for i believe $70. yes it's $20 over your budget but you will donate it to your grandson when your bones become too brittle to ride any more. think of the children!

Got one of these velo carbon saddles a while back from nashbar, about 50 bucks. It's the lightest and thinnest saddle I've ever used.

My question:
Anyone with a similar saddle take it out for long periods of time without incident?
How do you think it would hold up for long distance rides? (100+ mi)

Anyone:

PM me if you have a flite that you want to get rid of. I'd like to try one out.

Ideally I'm looking for a selle italia flite like this, in all black or white.

I just got a Specialized Avatar Gel at Mike's, $64.99 but cheaper than that because I got a 10% club discount, I'd normally shy away from anything called "gel" since I think the big problem with the seat on my newer bike is it's too soft, the sit bones sink and and then the saddle gets a chance to mold around, and chafe, other places. But this thing's firm! I could sure do withoutt all the flashy graphics, maybe I can subdue some of them with a rub-a-dub laundry marker.

I bought a Selle Italia Turbo Matic 4 off ebay after riding a century on this god awful Terry Dragonfly. Pretty comfy. It's got some rubber thingys in it that dampen shock that seem to work well. It was like riding on a couch after that damn Dragonfly.

Those Brooks B-17's are tempting...

invicta 08-10-05 10:59 AM

Ive got a leather Selle Italia XO and I love it. so much so that it went straight to the cheap fixie instead of my road race bike
