Rim recommendations
I'm building my second fixie and have found that the rims I was planning to reuse are in pretty crummy shape. I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a good quality inexpensive rim. I'm looking for something drilled 32H that can take 25-32 mm tires.
I found the Alex Adventurer for $24 and the Alex DM18 for $16 and he Sun CR-18 for $27. Anyone have any opinions on those, or other suggestions? |
Don't forget that shipping may kill any savings you might make versus going to the LBS. Rims are big and shipping is price accordingly.

I had alex td17's on my 29er. They are a disc only rim and can take 25's and 2.1's. Plenty strong. black with no braking surface. I've seen them as low as $25

I've ridden CR-18's for a year now and they're great. I'm a heavy guy and they've held up fine 32 hole front/rear.

I just read that 32 spoke 3-cross wheels are about 33% weaker than 36 spoke 3-cross wheels. Does anyone know where that figure comes from?? |

The rims this guy's offering to sell me are Weinmann 519's. Hrmph. Single walled doesn't sound too good to me... guess I'll hafta buy something new. |
