fuji track
tell me about this bike. it's really affordable, but is it also really ****ty? did i just answer my own question?
|
It's not totally trashy. The frame is fine quality (though it hasn't been a properly trackish geometry since '02 or '03). I believe they upgraded the hubs this year to Formula hubs which are perfectly adequate if unremarkable.
Everything else is so-so. Not Wal Mart quality, but the low-end of decent gear. Still, I'm of the opinion that as long as you don't pay over MSRP, it's not a bad deal. |
doesnt david hanley ride a fuji track? are you buying his

I got the lower end one. rolls just fine. upgraded some parts, though. wheels, stem, bars, saddle, ring. still happy with it.
it's not a shitty bike. give one a test ride, if you will. |
I've been riding one for a few years. Frame is great. Probably going to need a new rear wheel unless they really do have formula hubs. The older ones had quando hubs and I kept breaking spokes. The headset crapped out after three years, but I figure thats ok for a bargain headset. cranks, BB, and front wheel are the only things that are origional now. They're all going strong. Its odd, but the front hub is actually much better quality than the rear on my bike.

Yeah i've said this in a few other threads as well. I broke my first rear spoke about two-three months in and then broke them over and over again. Got to know my lbs pretty well when i had to go in every week eventually. Eventually swapped out the rear wheel after a little less than a year. The cog then stripped my new hub on one side so i had to replace that. At that point i replaced the chain as well. I've also replaced the saddle but that was more a preference thing. I put in track drops in place of the stock as well but that was a preference thing and my front wheel replacement was purely aesthetic. But i do like the frame. Looks like, according to tim, i'll have some fun with the headset in a year or so. fun fun.

I've been riding one for about three and a half years now and second what everyone else says. It's perfectly adequate, and reasonably priced. I had the same problems with the spokes and the wheel-build, but my LBS at the time re-built it (for free) and it worked well perfectly well until it was destroyed about a year ago through no fault of its own. Regardless, it's a good bike for the price, and you shouldn't be too worried about the components, especially if the wheels have recently been upgraded.

Just so that we can stop saying, "I think," and "if," I went and checked. Yeah. Formula hubs. Z chain, butted tubing, acceptable rims, FSA headset, housebrand other parts. Good to go, man.
