Dura Ace track crankset

I need to replace my crankset and wanted to switch to Dura Ace. A friend had them, and the BB felt really nice and smooth. Are these in good condition? I think the chainring might be beat, but would take the 46t 144bcd chainring off my old All City crankset. Thoughts?

I actually eyed this, with the knowledge that I might have to replace the BB. It's a decent price, based on what they go for on the used market.

Thankfully, I have a buddy who can get me a DA setup through his bike shop at almost 50% off, so I'm going that route as soon as the 165mm is back in stock.

You think there's something wrong with the BB?

$300 bucks is a lot of money for a used crank, Dura Ace or not. I would ask the seller a few questions such as are they the original owner, does the bottom bracket spin freely with no binding at all? are any of the thread stripped or cross-threaded (where they got started wrong, backed out then tightened straight), is the chainring flat and true, are the crank arms straight and not bent, about how many miles on that chainring, etc.....

I actually replied to this yesterday when you posted but the newbie rule of only 5 posts in 24 hours thwarted me. So be it.

Anyways, if you're still considering buying this crankset, I say go for it. The chainring looks fine provided it's still true and everything else looks good for a used set. I wouldn't pay the full $300 asking price though. It's 'or best offer' so there is some latitude there.

Random, late post, but something I did:

...buy DuraAce 7710 Road cranks, used, for $75...

...refinish...

...Set a Messenger, 130bcd chain ring on the 43mm side of the spider...

...Enjoy!

bonsai171 did you get the crankset? I'm still waiting for them to come back in stock. I'm very looking forward to them.

No, I wound up getting an Andel. The finish is a bit disappointing tbh, but I guess it work work.
