That's why I started this thread!

I was going to call it "Chainrings & Cockrings - The Josh Powell Story".

I already had that idea - see the "found josh" post. I believe I suggested the Lifetime Network.

It would seem so. . .

I even gave up reading the endless original thread. I've moved onto the more exciting "which messenger bag defines me as a person" threads.

Okay – So Monday I ride over to raygunner’s pad to pick up a cog. After that, I give Naz a call (since they live pretty near each other) and we decided to meet up. So, I eat a burrito, shot the **** with some guy I bump into who also rides a Cannondale Track bike and meet Naz. We roll down to Performance Bike to get some crap and then decided to ride around J Po’s hood for a little bit to see if we can string some clues together or something. After about ten minutes, Naz suggests stopping by J Po’s pad to see if he left anything behind that would give us any sort of idea where he is. We call his roommate, stop over and start sleuthing. We talk to her about when she last saw him, who last talked to him, the last person to officially see him, stuff like that. It takes us about an hour and three phone calls but we’re able to piece together where he was Sunday, Monday evening, Tuesday and Wednesday. That’s where the trail ends. Naz finds J Po’s old cell phone and starts reading off numbers for us to call. The first few get us nowhere… “Hi, I’m a friend of Josh’s… Oh, you haven’t heard from him? Yeah – he’s missing and we’re trying to track him down..” The next couple of people don’t answer so I leave a message. After we exhaust most of the phone numbers his roommates remember J Po telling them about some older woman he met at a local club here (Berlin) and says that she’s from out of town and he went home with her one night. Naz and I speculate that maybe, just maybe that’s where his is – he just skipped town with his sugar mama or something. We thank his roommates for their help, get back on our bikes and head to our respective homes.

About two hours later I’m laying in bed recounting the day to my lady when the phone rings. I ignore it but pick up the voicemail. “Hi Tristan, it’s Rebecca… We found Josh; he’s still alive – Call me back”. Immediately I call her and she tells me that one of the guys we called and left a message for called her back. Apparently he’s been staying with him for the last “few” days. She and I agree to meet up at this guy’s apartment to collect J Po. I get there and she & J Po are standing on the sidewalk. We all talk for a few minutes then Rebecca leaves. Josh agrees to return to the apartment later that night. He and I sit outside for a few minutes and drink a beer or to. He explains to me that he went on a “romantic vacation” with that older woman (Naz & I were right! We should be detectives). I ask if he wants to come back to my place – he agrees. So, he (sans clipless shoes) and I book it down to my pad at like 1:00am. We get there and I make him sit down and read the 10 page thread about him. I then explain to him about the posters that have been made & put up, all the random people we’ve told, the police being involved, and all that jazz. He says over and over again how terrible he feels and he can’t believe how inconsiderate he has been, etc. He genuinely sounds remorseful. I tell him it’s okay, people mess up, etc.

We talk about the money he owes his roommates. He says he’s going to pay them immediately, he feels really bad about the whole mess, etc. We talk about random crap for a while, he dons his helmet and takes off. We agree to meet up again soon to ride or whatever.

Here’s where it gets shady all over again. Tuesday afternoon Rebecca calls me and asks if I know where J Po is… I say “no”. She informs me that he and his dad took all of his belongings out of the apartment & left. Josh told Rebecca that he made arrangements with his old boss to give Rebecca his last paycheck which should be for $700. Rebecca calls the Boss as asks about this. He informs her that a) the check is only for $300 and b) josh would have to be there to pick it up himself. This is contrary to the arrangements J Po said he had made – Boss said such a discussion never happened.

Rebecca calls J Po’s dad’s girlfriend and asks if she knows where he and his dad are. The girlfriend immediately hangs up.

So, this leaves Josh’s roommates out $500, a roommate, and a friend. We gave him another chance and in less than 12 hours he betrays everyone’s trust. again.

Naz, feel free to add any details I missed.

PS. We totally think josh never left town and was just the B!tch of the guys he was staying with. When we were leaving that apartment there was a prolonged "goodbye".

"Josh, can I talk to you for a sec?" as we were trying to walk out. 5 minutes later he emerges and we take off.

Remember in the other thread where I said "In my opinion, any Josh bashing would be in poor taste". I'm taking that back. yuk is right.

p.s. Teadogg, I'm local so the beer you get from me will be cold, but domestic.

well, consider it like this. at least you know. if you had given up a while ago, you'd always have a tinge of guilt. you thought the worst at the time, everyone did. no shame in that.
