Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

East Bay (CA) spandex-y rides on the fixed? Anyone interested?

Looking for fellow East Bay fixed riders for 25-50 milers. Three Bears, Tunnel / Grizzly / Redwood / Pinehurst, Reliez Valley - anyone interested in donning (or not) their spandex and doing some roadie - esq rides on the fix? I usually ride the IRO Mark V 46x17 around town and save the Trek for the 2-3 hour rides, but am starting to love doing the longer rides fixed. Somehow climbing is just that much more fun when you stop fiddling with the gears and have two choices: hammer, or hammer more. Weekday afternoons work best, some weekenders (Tam?) would be cool too. I'm in Berkeley, but would be down to start from Oakland.
