Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? I could do earlier than that (say 5:30) if that's useful. Then we could avoid the dim. Or 7:00 is good too. I could run home and ditch the bag and possibly change shorts. It's all good.

Copley Sq is a lock.

Hmm too bad I can't make it due to orientation for the newbies, oh, and a massive party. But I'll be there in spirit.

Is that a Senior House/Haus party thing? I think some of my MIT friends still live there on those crazy upper floors.

I'm up for some Friday night miles.

Well, I'm sure Senior Haus is doing something...my friend Zoz is a GRT (read: RA) there. However, Friday is also the day for our second general (qualifying) exam in physics, so my boy Ben is planning a massive drunkfest in Cambridgeport (Brookline Ave.) to get people drunk enough to forget about it. Lucky me, I decided not to take it this time around.

I might be up for a ride, if I ever stop my face from bleeding.

Oh by the way, if any of you rides an orange(?) mountain bike and tried to race me (black IRO) on the Mass Ave bridge, you totally cut me off and made me eat a construction barrel. And you didn't even stop. Yeesh.

Sorry, still fuming.

Ok, sorry to backpedal, but I was thinking how I could just roll out of work and be @ copley for a ride and it would super. But know what? I'd rather put on the extra distance to take my crap home, grab a little snack, and ride a little lighter. Can we say 6:30 instead? Last time, I promise!

Hey folks, would this be a fixed ride tommorrow? If so, mind if I join? This is like first ride you guys have advertised that I can actually make; if I rush I can probably get to copley by 6:30.

Its entirely possible I'm too slow for everyone, though, which is fine.

No, I'm not going to the track tonight.

6:30 is fine for me on Friday. Rob, how's your face?

I haven't decided if I'll be at the track. Probably I will be. I'm that kind of sucker. Mars from Cambridge Bikes said he might show up, but I'm not sure if he will.

We haven't seen hide nor hair from MIT police for about a month, but then again it's been a smaller group.

Ok, of course tonight, Copley at 6:30 for the fixed gear ride.

Then tomorrow we're meeting at 2pm at JP Licks on Centre Street in JP (Greg's idea, not mine) for a geared ride. Fixed gear, single speeds, and choppers will be welcome if that's how you like to roll.

Hey dancesintraffic and rithem, it was good to see you guys out last night at MIT, and even more fun taking suicide laps at the secret track. Next time you'll need to remember your ID, Luke, and we'll hit the karaoke HARDCORE. Actually, maybe next time we'll just hit the Model first and quit f***ing around at the nerd bars.

Don't kill me. I found my wallet as soon as I set my bag down. It tumbled out of the side pocket on my bag. You know...the one you never put stuff in and thus forget it exists. Every bag has one of those. I had half a mind to ride right back down to the bar. Im getting my front wheel replaced as soon as my loan clears and then...then more suicide laps. I want to see someone bunny hop that curb on the outside of the hairpin.

Holy crap, Luke. I'm gonna start practicing hopping the bunny right now just to bust it out in a race and freak everybody out! (Not really, I already look like I've been attacked by a cheese grater.)

Ok, official not-Sunday post: I'm bailing today as my chest is bothering me. I left a message for Greg, so hopefully he gets it and doesn't show up in vain.

Weak Trevor! I got excited for a second there and was about to go home to get my road bike and head up to JP and then you had to go post that nonsense.

Get better soon.

We could still ride today. If Trevor's not riding, there's no need to meet in JP. Anybody up for a 3PM ride from Copley Sq?
