Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

My chain fell off in a curb on my way home just half an hour ago. The speed wasn't that high fortunately and I had a police car behind me so they stopped pretty quickly when I fell. It was a kind of slide fall when the rear wheel locked. My side hip took most of the hit I think but I'm also very glad I wore a helmet. Remember that - Wear a helmet!!
Ok, why did the chain come off you might wonder? Because of chain slack. The chain has lost it's tension the past few weeks and I think it's because the wheel isn't secured enough with the bolts. I'll tighten it now I think.
So the lesson is to keep a tight chainline and always wear a helmet.

Over and out.
enjoy your worries, you may never have them again.
