NYC STOLEN: green track frame, IRO wheels

my friend bryan's bike was stolen this afternoon in chelsea.

it's a duracycle moth with a rough green spraycan paint job with some chips.

IRO wheelset (they left the front wheel, so it'll have the IRO rear with an armadillo 28 on it)

ITM ti road stem, chop + flop bullhorns, sugino 75 road cranks with no decal, mks sylvan pedals.

thanks for keeping yer eyes open...

i wrapped the chain around my frame and through the front wheel, but not through the frame. as I was walking away I thought "could someone wiggle it out of there without taking the fork off? i should probably re-lock it." and I actually walked back and stood by the bike trying to decide. but there were old people walking by and I was lazy and it was broad daylight in front of an outdoor restaurant so I thought, nah.

then when I got to the elevators I thought "I should really go back and lock that properly" but I lost my access card and there was someone from my floor going up the card-only elevator so I didn't.

later I came out to find only my front wheel and chain, still locked. I am stupid.

apologies to brunning, who put a lot of work into helping me on this, my first fixed build.

I'm sorry to hear that you lost your bike. At the same time.... I am totally baffled by those handlebars.

yeah the downward angle of the bars was pretty much devoid of function. i could kind of hook into them when I was standing up I guess, but really I chopped first and never got around to flopping.

jhnmrk, i remember the thread you posted after your bike was stolen and I actually thought about your bike today as I was walking home, completely dejected with my front wheel in my hand. I was thinking that your theft experience was even more effed up, since you had the team paint scheme. I definitely will keep an eye out for the pedromobile; I'm going to check the chelsea flea market for the next few weekends looking for mine.

that's the worst part of the story. i do that all the time. like how many times does it take before we listen to the little voice in our heads.

i hope it turns up somewhere.

Did I see this bike outside academy records a few days ago? on 18th or 19th street between 5th and 6th? i was admiring it like the bike pervert I am.

i will keep my eyes out - you may want to put a "if a junkie tries to sell you this" note on craigslist, can't hurt.

earjob- i dunno, you had the team christmas colors rocking pretty hard, and it may be more effed to be stealing from santa claus. these track bikes have to be going somewhere, geez.

griffin-those pedals were of the $12 nashbar variety. i removed the cages and sprayed them blue.
