Looking for a NEW non drilled track frame...
 

I just started looking and everything I've seen has been drilled out... Do all NEW track frames come drilled? Its mostly a personal preference I guess... any Web site links? Brands I should look at...? or do i need to go custom?

Drilled for a brake?
The Bianchi Pista Concept is not drilled for a brake.

Many off the shelf frames come drilled, at the very least on the front. However, a few do not.

The Bianchi Pista Concept frame is not drilled for brakes. Some Italian aluminum frames as well.

Japanese keirin frames tend to not come drilled.

Otherwise, you're probably looking at custom or semi-custom and those Italian frames are in the same price range -- I'd rather go custom at that point.

For $599, the Pista Concept is probably the cheapest non-drilled track frame.

look into marinoni and cramerotti, both mildly inexpensive for something a little more personal and "track"ish. i believe both are hole-less. cramerotti has some close out track frames (depending on what size you need). if you just need the fork, as the title of the thread seems to suggest, i think you can get the soma non-drilled off the shelf. or perhaps a more expensive 1inch threaded track fork from waterford.

I'm looking for a matching fork/frame neither of which are drilled for brakes... I haven't decided if I want to go with a Used older bike or something new but most of the newer bikes I've seen are drilled while many of the older bikes Ive seen are not.

olmo gara pista, there's some still kicking around. nice frame, and i dont recall it being drilled. approximately $500-600 new, but i think they are discontinued so shops have them on "close out" price for less. red rose imports . com i believe? if you're in portland you have a few nice bike shops near you that sell used stuff...

out of curiosity, why is non-drilled so important?

less versatile/useful. i always wondered why it would matter too. it's simple though, and i was a victim when i first started oogling track bikes. non-drilled means track specific which means cooler. simple equation!

Doesn't make sense to me to go out of the way to get non drilled. If it's got the right geom. who gives a *****?

Having non drilled is purely preference... Pure track bike...

you could also but whatever track bike you like and change out the fork.

if it does have drillings you can always shove a nice punk spike/stud through the hole to make it look a bit more tough.

you can buy my bianchi pista (non-concept) frame if you like. it's not drilled :D

The IRO Mark V Pro had no rear brake drilling. It's been discontinued and will be replaced by the mysterious Angus, which also has no rear brake drilling. I don't know if the one-inch threaded fork will have a hole for the brake or not -- maybe Tony will tell you if you call him up.

Those are speed holes. They make the bike go faster.

exactly. see, take something that makes the bike uncool (brake holes) and add something that makes it look way cool (punk studs). now you have fashion and function together in one set up.

still looking for a screw on skull...

modify one of the ones that go on tire valves perhaps! totally some american custom chopper type thing, especially if you modify it...
