does this exist besides the pista fork? my friend wrecked his.. before you kill me .. i did search.. all i got was carbon replacement talk... i searched the internets too.. and only found threaded.. lemmie know if you got some leads... straight blade would be tough..

tange makes a 1" threadless chromed road fork with a 300 mm steerer (cut it down to size) that qbp sells as part number FK 2483. It's currently out of stock, but when it's back in any decent shop should be able to order it for you and should charge you 50-55 bucks unless they're mean about it. I do believe Spicer Cycles has one and also Bike Cult in NYC. But Gene at Spicer would probably be his best bet.

not to hijack the thread, but i have a chrome 1" threadless fork (not for sale, sorry) that I'd like to have threaded to avoid having to buy a new headset, stem, etc. anyone have an idea what a fair price would be to have the fork threaded?

is it possible to use a 1" threaded fork as threadless?
if it fits in a 1" headtube i'd assume the steerer tubes are the same diameter.
As long as the steerer is long enough for the stem to clamp to properly, it should work no?

The chrome track fork that Spicer sells is fairly underwhelming in real life.

yeah and to preserve the threads you could use a 1/18 steerer and a shim.

Are you kidding? I would strongly urge anyone not to do this. The only way to use a threaded fork is to use a very tall one and cut the threads off. If you clamp on to the threads they could snap under stress.

yes you're right. it's not advisable. the clamp area would be significantly less.

You could always get a 1" threaded fork and send it to mikkelsen for the bernie treatment.

theres no market here for that brand! i saw one one on ebay for $275.but thats $270. more than most here will pay.

I had it done on a Soma track fork from Neal a while back. Bernie cuts the steerer off, inserts a plug and then welds a threadable-thickness steerer on top. $50.00 was what he charged me, return shipping included. When I got mine back, it was VERY difficult to even see where he'd done the welding. Great job, and I have no doubts about its strength. Dokushoka has a bike with the same modification- that's where I got the idea while searching for a for with minimal rake.

The downside, if you can call it that, is that the plug keeps you from using a long-quilled stem like the kind you'd get from Rivendell, but no one here seems to use those stems anyhow. It may not work if your frame size is really small (short head tube).

In other news, I have an as new chrome straight-bladed uncut 1" threadless fork, but it's a road fork, drilled for a brake. PM me if you're interested in a purchase or trade.

The tange fork has 50mm of rake. The stock Pista fork has 28mm of rake. The look and feel of your bike will change a lot if you throw a tange fork on it. Trust me, I've tried.

Bikeworks NYC has a great one for $57 new. 40mm of rake and a brake hole. I've had mine for over a year.

If chrome is not absolutely necessary, I have a threaded KHS track fork listed in the trade sticky. It's red, round blade, flat crown and brand new. It still has the warning sticker on it. It's a really nice fork with very little rake. PM me for more details...
