tange makes a 1" threadless chromed road fork with a 300 mm steerer (cut it down to size) that qbp sells as part number FK 2483. It's currently out of stock, but when it's back in any decent shop should be able to order it for you and should charge you 50-55 bucks unless they're mean about it. Not sure if you can click through to this w/o logging in, but if so it looks like this: http://online.qbp.com/cgi-bin/qbp.co...mg&prod=FK2483

I do believe Spicer Cycles has one and also Bike Cult in NYC. But Gene at Spicer would probably be his best bet. |

This one is marked Columbus - Butted steerer, almost round blades, no crown, drilled, 720g.

not to hijack the thread, but i have a chrome 1" threadless fork (not for sale, sorry) that I'd like to have threaded to avoid having to buy a new headset, stem, etc. anyone have an idea what a fair price would be to have the fork threaded?
|
is it possible to use a 1" threaded fork as threadless?
if it fits in a 1" headtube i'd assume the steerer tubes are the same diameter. As long as the steerer is long enough for the stem to clamp to properly, it should work no? |
The chrome track fork that Spicer sells is fairly underwhelming in real life.

yes you're right. it's not advisable. the clamp area would be significantly less.
|
You could always get a 1" threaded fork and send it to mikkelsen for the bernie treatment.
|
can you school us on the bernie treatmment? i remember reading about you having it done before... that columbus fork is nice.. anyone know where to get it? thanks for all the help.. i love you guys, man... *snif

Go to http://aebike.com/site/intro.cfm (Alfred E. Bike). This is the link to the Tange 1" Chrome fork.
http://aebike.com/site/page.cfm?Page...and=416&type=T they have them for 39.99. I have ordered a few things from this shop and haven't had any problems with my orders yet. |
i have a new spicercycles fork F/S, never been installed! let me know
|
thought I would just resurect this old thread instead of starting a new one...
do any more threadless chrome 1" forks exist? Here are my requirements: 1" Threaded Chrome Drilled for front brake I would prefer straight blade for no other reason then the sloping ones I have seen look kinda dorky the spicer ones look drilled in the pics but the description says you can't drill em .. any other options? |

theres no market here for that brand! i saw one one on ebay for $275.but thats $270. more than most here will pay.

The downside, if you can call it that, is that the plug keeps you from using a long-quilled stem like the kind you'd get from Rivendell, but no one here seems to use those stems anyhow. It may not work if your frame size is really small (short head tube). In other news, I have an as new chrome straight-bladed uncut 1" threadless fork, but it's a road fork, drilled for a brake. PM me if you're interested in a purchase or trade. |
u say u don't thought the weld, you got life insurance?

The tange fork has 50mm of rake. The stock Pista fork has 28mm of rake. The look and feel of your bike will change a lot if you throw a tange fork on it. Trust me, I've tried.
|
Bikeworks NYC has a great one for $57 new. 40mm of rake and a brake hole. I've had mine for over a year.
|
thats NOT a track fork for $57. junk road fork!
|
If chrome is not absolutely necessary, I have a threaded KHS track fork listed in the trade sticky. It's red, round blade, flat crown and brand new. It still has the warning sticker on it. It's a really nice fork with very little rake. PM me for more details...
