So the 2006 pista...

i just picked mine up and had a few questions my lbs didnt realy know. BTW. if you get a chrome 2006 the saddle is no longer chrome. its just black. if you get the green it comes with a leapord and black one. anywho.

it doesnt come with sugino cranks anymore but with Truvativ touro. are these decent and how do they compare to the sugino...it also comes with a stem that when flipped actually has negative drop. and it comes with the nastiest pedals ever. terrible.

most of the decals are still clearcoated as usual. haha. the chainline is actually very nice stock... i opted for the 48x18 . overall im pleased for the price i got... which is a benefit of doing computer work for the LBS haha. just letting people know about the new stuff and asking about the cranks.

did you get the chrome or green? is the fork still 1" unicrown? pics?
the cranks are about the same in quality. they're both low end aluminum square taper cranks, nothing special.

why isn't this on the bianchi site?

ps when i switched parts of my old frame i left the sugino cranks on the other frame because i didn't want to go to the length of pulling cranks and removing bbs, but now i wish i had. i don't like the look of the truvativs and the chainline is noisy

Pics!

and uhh, previous pistas didn't come with Suginos. They've all been Truvativ touros or generic Bianchi labled cranks.
You must be thinking of last year's Pista Concept.

Every '05 Pista I've seen came stock with Suginos (RDs, if memory serves), including but not limited to the one sitting in my garage.

oh, oops. i thought they were truvativ's. and that you were referring to the sugino 75's.
To me there's no real difference among the 3. but then again I've never ridden any of them

Roy's in Bklyn had the best price I've seen so far on the "05 Pista - $499ish, and that was WITH a front brake. - the lowest I found in Manhattan was $540 without brake. The same day I was going to go pick one up, I found KHS on Craigslist.
I have never dealt with Roy's before, however they seem to run a great shop...they have some serious frames.

The 03 came with Truvativs, and they're ISIS, not squaret-tapered. I found this out when I tried to overhaul the BB on it recently and discovered that my crank-puller (which works fine on the crappy Nishiki single speed I built myself) isn't going to cut it with an ISIS crank. I thought I was going to have to get a second crank puller, but the mechanic at the LBS gave me a little nugget (about the size of four or five pennies stacked) that shimano used to make so that their higher-end ISIS crank systems (like what you find on the nicer road bike groups) could be pulled with a regular crank puller (this, the mechanic said, was back in the day before Park, et al were making two separate crank pullers). Anyway, the little nugget works like a charm. Out with the BB, in with the grease. Life is good. The pista is a gem.

BTW: I'm glad they went away from the chrome seat. I always felt sorry for the guys I saw riding around on the newer pista's. You can rat one of those out all you want -- tape, tubes wrapped around, etc. -- but it's still a pista, clear as day with that shiny seat. Nevermind that no amount of ratting makes a chrome frame any less conspicuous. But that's just my taste, and I'm certainly not hating.

PEace.

I'm pretty sure the Roy's he's talking about is way down in Sheepshead Bay, 2679 Coney Island Ave. I've only passed en route to Coney Island. I've only heard good things though. It's not new.

So is the deal that you can get the 06 in either chrome or green? That's what I seem to be hearing... or is it that you can obviously still get the chrome 05's that are still in stock, but after those are sold, only green?

06 comes in chrome. I didn't know what the green looked like on the 06 model, so I got chrome instead.

Can it be? I love that this looks like a conversion of a 70s bike! Check out the part spec, same...

That's a japan exclusive. Came up in another thread awhile back. I don't think that's the new pista.

I like the color celeste.
It seems to me it has changed several times over the years.
Sometimes it looks a little like turquoise and at other times it looks like pistachio.
I'd like to know if Bianchi has maintained celeste as a constant, unchanging color, or if their marketing and manufacturing people have "adjusted" it.
Strange color.

I definitely would like to see it when it's ready, I'm still loving my '04 Pista, but like I said in another post, just got a Steamroller frame and the only thing I really need now is a wheelset, which I might take from the Pista. White Velocity rims with some 700x23c Gators. Not so sure yet......
They also have Surly track hubs with a 14t cog on the rear.

because it's september '05, shops would have trouble clearing their '05 inventory if everyone came in wanting "What's on Bianchi's site"
