mmmmm......dimpled seat tube and a chainring that looks like a circular saw blade. i wish the frame was black.

i wanna flip that stem and run over some pedestrians with it.

i don't like the idea of a frame with pieces eaten away. i'm guessing it was acid.

easy, it's not a professional photo.

looks like similar tubes as a Fuji Track Pro. Fuji's US H-Q is pretty close to Van Dessel's....

welds dont look so hot.

I'd really like to know how you tell that the welds are good or not from that crappy photo. Or are you just complaining that they haven't been smoothed (a la Bianchi Pista Concept) and made to look nice?

It seems like most (welded) aluminum frames have rather beefy (butch, even) welds that aren't very pretty. Certainly my aluminum bikes have different looking (read: larger, not sanded down much) welds than the rather small and smooth ones on my Steamroller, but I always thought that the width of the weld (along with the diameter of the tubing) is one of the differences between steel and aluminum.

Anyway, I wouldn't be reading much into this yet...if that photo is real, the bike is likely a pre-production model. The final frameset could be significantly different/improved - Van Dessel seems to put out some quality bikes, and even the Country Road Bob's welds look "nicer" than what you see in that picture.

D-Dub - perhaps you can give us some insight into the differences (if any) between aluminum and steel welds?
