There was once a time...
Okay - I like my bikes fast and dirty. Nothing fancy when it comes to lugs. Not sure I would even want a bike that had lugs that took almost a day's worth of time to create. But when you think about the artistry that goes into hand carving a lug and piecing the bike together, even I can be impressed. http://img402.imageshack.us/img402/1...lumbine8ue.jpg Columbine http://img402.imageshack.us/img402/4250/kellogg3ui.jpg Kellogg http://img402.imageshack.us/img402/7...lasanta2rx.jpg Della Santa http://img402.imageshack.us/img402/3929/baylis2gn.jpg Baylis http://img402.imageshack.us/img402/7986/image136ed.jpg Thanks for sharing these Don. Can't wait to see the bike you were talking about yesterday! If anyone wants to see more lugwork/designs, etc - Don has assured me that the NAHBS (North American Handmade Bike Show - http://www.handmadebicycleshow.com/) will provide such eye candy. Bellweather, I bet even you are welcome to go and meet Don in person. I just might make 2006... http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/4...ebike938fy.jpg Walker Lugless - I heard that even lugless framebuilders are welcome... |
That's some clean welding!

The only other welds I"ve seen at that level were (and the DeSalvo does top them by a bit) done on an aluminum "park" bike that my former co-worker designed and had built for him. The guy who does the welding used to build helicopters for the Russian Military. I've never touched a weld so perfect (that wasn't a machine job). I've gotta say that's hot *****. |
